The Remote Medicine for the Advanced Provider™ (RMAP) course trains Advanced Life Support (ALS) providers such as nurses, paramedics, physicians, and physician assistants on sophisticated, life-saving techniques developed for use in challenging and remote environments.

The RMAP provides the highest level of education necessary for ALS providers to manage a patient for up to 72 hours. Meeting and exceeding the requirements set forth by NREMT for a Paramedic to recertify using the NCCP model of recertification required by all States starting in 2019, this course when approved by a students local agency meets the recertification requirements for the NREMT.

Overview:
The RMAP includes the widest range of advanced medical skills available to our students. This course educates participants on immobilization and carrying techniques, litter packaging, cold and heat emergencies, joint reductions, fracture management, spinal injury assessment and management, eye injuries, dental emergencies, expedition health and hygiene, psychological emergencies, tropical medicine, altitude illness, envenomation, evacuations, rescue considerations, mass casualty incidents, triage situations, how to utilize medical kits and manage remote site clinics, and more. 

COURSE DURATION:
20 hours of online content and five days on-site

CERTIFICATIONS RECEIVED:
Paramedic (REMT), and ECSI eACLS, Healthcare Provider CPR

CAPCE CEU CREDIT:
Up to 60 hours

RECERTIFICATION INTERVAL:
RMAP three years, two years eACLS & Healthcare Provider (CPR)

PREREQUISITES:
Experience providing Advanced Life Support patient care.

To meet the standard for recertification under the NREMT NCCP model the student must me a Current Paramedic under the NREMT.

*Students will be required to provide a copy of government-issued photo ID.  For example: passport, drivers license, state issued ID card, military ID, etc.

COURSE FORMAT:
Residential; includes food and lodging.

North Cascades Environmental Learning Center - Lake Diablo, WA

OVERVIEW
Situated on the shore of Diablo Lake in the heart of the North Cascades National Park, the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center (ELC) provides an optimal site for our Remote EMT courses. The ELC campus is surrounded by mountains and forests with an extensive trail network, offering endless possibilities for simulated wilderness medicine scenarios and recreation alike. 

LODGING
Lodging is included for all Remote Medical International courses at the ELC. Each student will share a lodge room with one or two other students. Each lodge has shared gender-specific bathrooms with two private shower stalls and two toilet stalls. The student lodges also have a lounge room with a small fridge and sink. There are three lodges on the ELC campus. 

MEALS
Meals are provided as a part of all Remote Medical International courses at the ELC. Meals are prepared daily in the commercial kitchen by ELC chefs beginning the day the course starts through the last day, including weekends. Meals are typically served buffet style with meat and vegetarian options. Coffee, tea, and snacks are also available daily.

TRANSPORTATION
Students are responsible for their own transportation. The ELC is a three-hour drive from Seattle, WA, and best reached with a personal vehicle. For students flying in, there are car rentals available at the airport. You may also post in the Student Portal's Discussion Board before the course to coordinate carpools or shared rental vehicles with your classmates.

WI-FI/PHONE
Wireless internet access is available throughout the ELC campus. There is no cell service at the ELC. Phones are available in the lodges and classrooms for outgoing calls. Cell service is available in the town of Newhalem, 15 minutes away by car.

RECREATION
With immediate access to Diablo Lake for boating and fishing, extensive hiking and running trails right on campus, and proximity to climbing, snow sports, and the national park, this facility is a great place to visit and an even better place to spend a month! Remember to bring your gear with you!

The Environmental Learning Center is ADA accessible. Service animals are welcome.
