The Six Week Hybrid Remote Emergency Medical Technician (6 Week H-REMT) course is for self-directed and self-motivated individuals seeking an EMT certification with a high likelihood of working professionally in remote areas worldwide. This hands-on, intensive training course educates students in a wide range of skills and real-world scenarios through weekly online learning modules, two evening classroom sessions per week each four hours long and one eight hour practical session on each weekend.
the course meets and exceeds the National Registry of EMT's medical standards by covering all required curriculum. The H-REMT incorporates select higher-level capabilities and focuses on subjects that prepare the graduates for working both in an urban/rural setting along with giving them the confidence to deal with treating patients in remote and disaster environments. This hands-on, intensive training course educates students in a wide range of skills and real-world scenarios. Students receive the EMT certification through the National Registry of EMT’s, and the U.S. Coast Guard’s Medical Care Person in Charge (MCPIC) certificate of course completion.
By combining NREMT education with the MCPIC and H-Remote EMT curriculum, the H-REMT enables successful students to work as an EMT in a wide variety of environments. The H-REMT curriculum educates students on high-level medical skills and topics that include advanced wound closure (suturing and stapling), foley catheterization, antibiotic therapy, IV administration, sick call and primary care, pediatrics, geriatrics, and childbirth.
Additionally, the course covers travel medicine, telemedicine, medical kit integration, lifting and moving patients, advanced airway management, oxygen administration, shock, thoracic trauma, head injuries, dental emergencies, musculoskeletal injuries, respiratory and cardiac emergencies, mass-casualty incidents, anaphylaxis, cold and heat emergencies, altitude, immersion, submersion, and more
This course requires approximately 70 hours of pre-course online instruction and then will be held over the course of 6 weeks on Tuesday & Thursday nights 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Remote EMT, Emergency Medical Technician from the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT)*, Medical Care Person in Charge (MCPIC) certificate of course completion, and Healthcare Provider CPR/AED (ECSI).
*Please note that passing the national registry exam is required for EMT Certification. The cognitive testing must be scheduled independently and performed at NREMT designated testing centers. Current EMT registration is required to validate REMT status.

18+ years old, high school diploma or equivalent, PPD (tuberculosis) test at a doctor’s office within six months of course start date, record of immunization or proof of immunity against Covid-19 (proof of vaccine), Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B, Varicella, and Tetanus, ability to lift 250 pounds with assistance, a copy of government-issued photo ID such as a passport, drivers license, state issued ID card, military ID, etc.
MINIMUM TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Students must be able to complete eLearning coursework on a computer that is able to use Adobe Flash Player and use one of the following browser versions: Internet Explorer 7.0 and above, Mozilla 3.5 and above, Google Chrome 1.0 and above, or Safari 4.0 and above.
Students are required to purchase Emergency Care (13th Edition), which can be purchased here on Amazon. Students are not required or expected to read textbooks before the course start date.
Non Residential - does not include food and lodging. Please note that students should expect to spend at least one weekend on a clinical rotation in addition to the Saturday class time.

Remote Medical Training HQ is located in the Squalicum Lofts Business Park in Bellingham, WA. This facility has direct access to Squalicum Creek Park and the city of Bellingham’s vast trail network. The trail system allows access to water, beach and adverse terrain settings. The Bellingham facility has a large classroom, as well as space for conducting smaller breakout sessions. Squalicum Lofts provides the perfect location to conduct realistic training scenarios in an urban setting, while maintaining a remote and wilderness feel.
