Overview
The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) two-day training course includes short lectures, interactive labs, and realistic practice scenarios that help students master the central concepts of remote and wilderness medicine. The course teaches how to respond effectively respond to an emergency if necessary and manage patient for up to four hours until a higher level of care can arrive.

Subjects Covered
Designed for the outdoor enthusiast or the employee working in remote or challenging locations the WFA includes a broad range of introductory medical skills and topics. Subjects include patient assessment, lifting and moving patients, cold and heat emergencies, altitude, immersion, submersion, lightning, legal considerations, and more. Students also learn how to effectively manage basic wounds, infection, shock, head injuries, spinal injuries, respiratory and cardiac emergencies, abdominal pain, metabolic and allergic reactions, and altered mental states, for up to four hours until a higher level of care can arrive.

Pre Requisites: 18 years or older

Duration: Two days

Certifications: ECSI CPR/AED Certification, Remote Medical Training WFA

Recertification Interval:  Two years for certification period

Remote Medical Training HQ - Bellingham, WA

Remote Medical Training HQ is located in the Squalicum Lofts Business Park in Bellingham, WA. This facility has direct access to Squalicum Creek Park and the city of Bellingham’s vast trail network. The trail system allows access to water, beach and adverse terrain settings. The Bellingham facility has a large classroom, as well as space for conducting smaller breakout sessions. Squalicum Lofts provides the perfect location to conduct realistic training scenarios in an urban setting, while maintaining a remote and wilderness feel.
