Wilderness First Responders and Wilderness EMTs are required to recertify every two to three years. The WFC is offered in a three-day format including CPR for the Healthcare Provider. This course reviews principles and skills learned in WFR and WEMT program, updates students on curriculum changes, and reviews medical scenarios in remote environments. Please note that food and lodging are not provided for WFC courses.

Wilderness First Responder (WFR), CPR for the Healthcare Provider, ‘Wilderness’ Certification (for current EMTs only)

Current WFR or REMT/WEMT (must be within 3 years of certification issue date); 18+ years old.


The WFC refreshes Wilderness First Responder curriculum, including legal considerations, patient assessment, lifting and moving patients, altitude, immersion, submersion, lightning, and altered mental states. The course curriculum also educates students on how to successfully manage shock, head injuries, wounds, infection, musculoskeletal and spinal injuries, respiratory and cardiac emergencies, abdominal pain, metabolic and allergic reactions, cold and heat emergencies, and more.
