Description RMUR/RMAP

The Remote Medicine Upgrade and Advanced Provider Recertification (RMUR/RMAP) course combines our RMAP and our RMUR curriculum to provide CAPCE accredited CE hours for providers looking to practice their skills in more remote settings. 

The Remote Medicine for the Advanced Provider™ (RMAP) course trains Advanced Life Support (ALS) providers such as nurses, paramedics, physicians, and physician assistants on sophisticated, life-saving techniques developed for use in challenging and remote environments. This course is 6 days of in-person training and offers up to 56 hours of CAPCE-approved continuing education. Please refer to your state agency for complete recertification requirements.

The Remote Medicine Upgrade and Recertification (RMUR) course fulfills the
current NREMT NCCP requirements for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
recertification and meets requirements to renew or upgrade a current EMT to a
Remote Emergency Medical Technician (REMT). This course is 6 days of in-person training and 48 hours of CAPCE accredited continuing education. Please refer to your state agency for complete recertification requirements.

Overview:

This course will combine the curriculum of the RMAP and the RMUR courses to provide an immersed learning environment for all scopes of practice. The course will include lectures, scenarios and break out sessions to provide scope specific skills stations.

The RMAP includes the widest range of advanced medical skills available to RMT students. This course educates participants on immobilization and carrying techniques, litter packaging, cold and heat emergencies, joint reductions, fracture management, spinal injury assessment, management of eye injuries and dental emergencies, expedition health and hygiene, psychological emergencies, tropical medicine, altitude illness, envenomation, evacuations, rescue considerations, mass casualty incidents, triage situations, how to utilize medical kits, manage remote site clinics, and more.

The RMUR refreshes all REMT curriculum, such as high-level medical skills and topics that include advanced wound closure (suturing), foley catheterization, antibiotic therapy, IV administration, sick call and primary care, pediatrics, geriatrics, and childbirth. Additionally, the course covers travel medicine, telemedicine, medical kit integration, lifting and moving patients, advanced airway management, oxygen administration, shock, thoracic trauma, head injuries, dental emergencies, musculoskeletal injuries, respiratory and cardiac emergencies, mass-casualty incidents, anaphylaxis, cold and heat emergencies, altitude, immersion, submersion, and more.
