The 5-day practical session is held in the stunning subalpine landscape of Heather Meadows. Nestled at the foot of the iconic Mt. Baker, this world-class training ground provides a truly immersive mountain environment. You won't just learn in a classroom; you'll be in the field, practicing wilderness first responder techniques on rugged trails and in realistic conditions, making your training exceptionally practical and memorable.

Location - Heather Meadows

Nestled in the stunning subalpine landscape of the North Cascades, Heather Meadows offers a world-class training ground for wilderness medicine. Based out of the Heather Meadows Visitor Center at the foot of the iconic Mt. Baker, this course provides a truly immersive mountain environment. The dramatic, glaciated peaks, steep volcanic terrain, and rapidly changing weather conditions provide an ideal and dynamic setting for complex wilderness first responder scenarios.

Get in the field and put your skills to the test. This is not a classroom-only course; you will be practicing hands-on techniques in the very environment where they are most needed. Students will learn to manage everything from high-altitude emergencies to injuries on rugged trails, all under the expert guidance of our instructors.

Please Note: This is a field-based course. Lodging and meals are not included, allowing students the flexibility to camp nearby or stay in the surrounding communities. Students are responsible for their own transportation. The Heather Meadows Visitor Center is approximately a 1.5-hour drive from Bellingham, WA, and is best reached with a personal vehicle.
