RMAP Curriculum & Logistics
The RMAP curriculum is meticulously designed to build upon your advanced medical foundation, integrating the principles of remote medicine and prolonged field care into every module. The 5-day, 44-hour course is spread across a demanding residential week.
The format is an ALS skills review with a distinct remote focus, covering essential topics for the expeditionary provider:
Advanced Procedures, Remote Context: Intubation, Foley Catheters, I.V. Therapy, Pain Management & Anesthesia.
Trauma & Environmental Medicine: Advanced Trauma Management, Altitude Illness, Animal Attacks, Plant Envenomations, and Aviation Considerations.
Prolonged Field Care: Minor Surgical Procedures, Field Dentistry, ENT Emergencies, and Tropical Medicine.
Operational & Expeditionary Skills: Rescue & Evacuation, Survival, Health & Hygiene, Psychology/Psychiatry in Remote Areas, Performing Risk Assessments, and Expedition Medical Planning.
Logistics & Legal: Effective Technology & Medical Kit Considerations, Telemedicine & Communications, and Legal Issues in Remote Care.

Instructors & Logistics
Instructor Experience: Our instructional teams are comprised of seasoned experts—physicians, PAs, paramedics, and nurses—with extensive, verifiable operational experience in remote medicine, from polar expeditions to disaster relief zones. All instructors are vetted and approved by the Field Operations Manager to ensure the highest standard of teaching and mentorship.
Prerequisites:
- Current ALS/ACLS Certification.
- Professional experience as an MD, RN, PA, NP, or Paramedic.
Course Logistics:
Duration: 5 full days, onsite. This is a 44-hour residential program with no pre-course work.
Schedule: Full-day sessions. While coursework does not run on weekends, food and lodging are provided throughout your stay. Expect a physically and mentally demanding week.
