Sahale DelCampo earned their Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification through RMT’s hybrid program in 2022, giving them firsthand insight into the exact learning environment and student experience they now facilitate. Their clinical background spans a diverse and dynamic range of patient care settings, having worked full-time as both an Emergency Room Technician and a Medical Assistant specializing in skin cancer surgery. This unique combination of fast-paced, high-acuity emergency medicine and meticulous surgical care provides Sahale with a highly adaptable and well-rounded clinical perspective. Dedicated to bringing current, real-world scenarios into the classroom, they continue to work actively in both the ER and surgical settings part-time, ensuring their instruction remains fresh, practical, and highly relevant for their students.

The Journey to Remote Medicine
I was working in a remote environment performing a dangerous job and was motivated to pursue a higher level so that I could take the lead in an emergency involving myself, my coworkers, or any civilians.
I hope to pursue a career in nursing in the future and expand my clinical understanding and scope. I love getting outside, usually hiking, backpacking, skiing, or any chance I have to swim in a lake. But I also enjoy a lazy day at home with a good thriller novel.
Teaching Philosopy
I enjoy lecturing in a way that students feel empowered to participate, whether sharing stories or asking questions. I like to emphasize a strong foundation of understanding in anatomy and physiology and build any practical skills upon that understanding. My goal is to prioritize hands on learning alongside lectures.

Most Memorable Field Experience
I responded as a good samaritan to an unconscious person on the side of the road. I had none of the equipment I would want, but it reinforced for me how the patient assessment is the most useful tool we have as EMTs.
Why I Choose to Teach
I love gaining a deeper understanding of how the human body works and how it can be impacted by illness and injury. I find it very fulfilling to help students achieve this understanding as well. I enjoy watching their skills and confidence develop and knowing that when they leave the classroom they now carry the skills necessary to save someones life and handle an emergency effectively.
