An experienced Paramedic, Sean Roberts expertly bridges the gap between traditional urban/rural EMS and remote, high-alpine medicine. Since moving to Bellingham in 2010, they have been deeply embedded in the local mountain community. Professionally, Sean provides critical Advanced Life Support (ALS) along the rugged Highway 542 corridor, serving as a vital medical lifeline at the end of the mountain road for the Mt. Baker Ski Area. This clinical expertise is matched by a lifelong personal passion for the backcountry; as an avid skier, climber, and backpacker, they intimately understand the unique logistical and environmental challenges of adventuring off the beaten path. For students and clients, Sean perfectly blends frontline 911 paramedic experience with authentic wilderness knowledge, teaching learners how to confidently manage emergencies when definitive care is miles down a mountain road.
The Journey to Remote Medicine
While my main practice is in the urban/rural environment, I provide care at the end of a mountain road for Mt. Baker Ski Area. I have always found myself pursuing activities in remote settings. From backpacking, to skiing, to climbing, I love adventure that takes me off the beaten path. I have been an avid skier at Mt. Baker since moving to Bellingham in 2010, and once I became a paramedic, have been providing ALS care down Highway 542.

I have three dogs, and love working on dog training. I really enjoy adventure-style travel, and am always looking for long trails to put on the list.
Teaching Philosopy
My teaching philosophy is that I like to provide well-researched, useful tools for emergency response. I like to use scenarios to find the sweet spot, where students are pushed out of their comfort zone but are able to ultimately overcome the problem.

Why I Choose to Teach
Teaching exposes my own weaknesses in terms of skills, knowledge and ability. I love working with coworkers who have wisdom and knowledge to share. Running a smooth course, and being a part of a high-functioning educator team is incredibly satisfying.
Most Memorable Field Experience
I have a few calls I have been a part of as a paramedic that have pushed my skills, knowledge and abilities. What I love about my job as a firefighter/paramedic is that I am confronted with a wide array of problems, from trauma to medical to HAZMAT to fires to natural disasters, to anything in between.
