WFC Curriculum & Logistics
The HWFC reviews the full WFR scope but places special emphasis on leadership and complex management. The curriculum is designed to rebuild confidence in managing a patient for up to eight hours until a higher level of care can arrive.
Topics & Skills Practiced:
Core Skills: Patient assessment, lifting and moving patients, and legal considerations.
Environmental Medicine: In-depth review of cold and heat emergencies, altitude, immersion, submersion, and lightning.
Trauma & Medical Management: Effective management of basic wounds, infection, shock, head and spinal injuries, respiratory and cardiac emergencies, abdominal pain, metabolic and allergic reactions, and altered mental states.
Course Logistics and Prerequisites
Prerequisites: Candidates must be 18 years or older and hold a current WFR or WEMT certification that is valid through the first day of the course start date. This ensures all participants begin with a comparable foundational knowledge base.
Duration: The course combines 10-20 hours of distance learning through our online LMS with two full days of on-site training. On-site course hours are typically 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM each day.
